Moca (“we,” “our,” or “the Company”) provides decentralized applications that make crypto and communication simple, private, and accessible. Our products include:
Moca Wallet – a non-custodial wallet for sending, receiving, swapping, and paying with crypto across multiple blockchains.
Moca POS – a point-of-sale interface for merchants to accept crypto payments in everyday transactions.
Moca Messenger – a decentralized, end-to-end encrypted chat built on the Matrix protocol.
At Moca, we advocate for privacy, security, and self-determination. We do not custody funds, store private keys, or monitor conversations. We provide the interface; you remain in full control.
By using any Moca product, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
General (all products):
- Minimal technical data for app functionality (e.g., error logs, device type). Logs are anonymized and not tied to your identity.
- We do not collect names, emails, phone numbers, private keys, or seed phrases.
Moca Wallet:
- Retrieves blockchain data (balances, transactions, token activity) directly from public blockchains.
- Optional local contact lists are stored only on your device.
Moca POS:
- Merchant profiles may include business name, logo, and POS configuration preferences.
- Transaction data is public on blockchains; we may reference it in anonymized form to provide business analytics.
- No end-customer personal data is collected.
Moca Messenger:
- Encrypted messages are exchanged via the Matrix protocol and remain visible only to the intended participants.
- Display names, avatars, or contact lists are stored only on your device unless you choose to share them.
2. How We Use Information
We use limited information solely to:
- Enable wallet transactions, payments, and encrypted communications.
- Provide merchants with reporting dashboards (POS).
- Improve app performance and security through anonymized technical logs.
- Generate aggregated insights (never tied to individual users).
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or surveillance.
3. Keys and Security
- Private keys, seed phrases, and keystore files are generated and stored only on your device.
- Encrypted conversations (Messenger) remain under your control.
- Moca cannot access, recover, or reset your keys, seed phrases, or encrypted conversations.
4. Transactions and Fees
- Transactions require your local confirmation (password or biometrics) before being broadcast to a blockchain.
- Once broadcast, transactions are irreversible.
- Fees may be charged by underlying blockchains or third-party protocols (e.g., Maya, ThorChain). These fees are outside Moca’s control and are not collected by us.
5. Third-Party Services
- Wallet & POS: Interactions with decentralized protocols (e.g., Maya, ThorChain) are required for swaps and cross-chain transactions.
- Messenger: Operates on the Matrix protocol, which may interoperate with third-party federated servers.
- Moca does not control these external services and is not responsible for their availability, reliability, or privacy practices. You are responsible for reviewing their terms.
6. User Rights
Because Moca does not collect or store personal data, traditional rights (such as GDPR or CCPA requests) apply only to optional data (e.g., merchant profiles, local contact lists). Blockchain records and encrypted chats remain under your control and cannot be accessed or modified by Moca.
7. Data Retention
- Local data (wallet configs, contacts, chat history) remains only on your device until you delete it.
- Aggregated, anonymized error logs may be temporarily retained for performance.
- Blockchain records are public, immutable, and cannot be altered or deleted by Moca or anyone else.
- Encrypted messages exchanged through Matrix servers are under the control of the servers you connect to, not Moca.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted with a revised “Last Updated” date.
